How the forum works
A place to learn from each other's land. A few simple rules keep it useful, kind, and safe.
How it works
Read freely
Anyone can read the forum. You only need an account to post, reply, or mark a reply as helpful.
Sign in with a passkey
No passwords. Your phone or computer creates a passkey and unlocks it with your face, fingerprint, or PIN. We store only its public half, which can't be used to sign in anywhere else.
New members get a quick review
Your first 2 posts are read by a moderator before they appear. After that, you post straight away. This keeps spam and scams out.
Posts are public
Discussions can be read by anyone and found in search engines. Your username, display name, and region appear with your posts. Read our privacy notice for the details.
The community keeps watch
Anyone signed in can report a post. When 3 members report the same post, it is hidden until a moderator reviews it.
The rules
Share what you know, and how you know it
Say what you tried, where, and what happened. If you're citing research or an extension guide, link it. "It worked in my clay soil in zone 6a" is more useful than "this always works."
Be kind to people, honest about ideas
Disagree with the method, never the person. No insults, harassment, hate, or threats. Everyone here started somewhere.
Keep homes private
Never post anyone's address, including your own, or details that pinpoint where someone lives. Share a region or county instead.
Safety first with food, plants, and animals
Foraging, preserving, and animal care carry real risks. Never tell someone a wild plant or mushroom is safe to eat from a photo. Point people to local extension offices and tested recipes, and in a poisoning emergency, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
No medical claims
Talk about plants and food, but don't diagnose or promise cures. Health questions belong with a doctor.
No selling or advertising here
The forum is for knowledge, not sales. Don't post ads, affiliate links, or offers to sell. Never offer anything illegal or regulated: weapons, drugs, restricted pesticides, invasive plants, or uninspected meat or raw milk.
Licensed work needs licensed people
Electrical, plumbing, pesticide application, and tree work near power lines need licensed professionals. Before you dig, call 811.
Adults only
You must be 18 or older to join.
Moderators may hide posts or remove accounts that break these rules. To raise a concern, email support@alturearth.co. Advice here comes from members, not from Altur, and isn't a substitute for a site visit or a licensed professional.
